Surgical removal of the foreskin, performed for medical, religious, or personal reasons.
Book a ConsultationCircumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin from the penis. During the procedure, the foreskin is opened, separated from the glans, and then removed.
For adults, the procedure can be performed under local or general anaesthesia. For children, general anaesthesia is always used. A topical or locally injected anaesthetic may also be applied to reduce discomfort during and after the procedure.
Circumcision is most commonly requested for religious or personal reasons. It may also be recommended for medical reasons, including the treatment of pathological phimosis, recurrent balanoposthitis (inflammation of the foreskin and glans), and chronic urinary tract infections. The procedure is not suitable in cases of certain genital structural abnormalities or poor general health.
