Diagnosis and management of BPH, prostatitis, and prostate cancer.
Book a ConsultationThe prostate is a small gland located below the bladder in men. It can be affected by several conditions, including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate), and prostate cancer. Symptoms can include difficulty urinating, a frequent or urgent need to pass urine, a weak stream, or pain in the pelvic area.
Treatment depends on the diagnosis. BPH may be managed with medication or, in some cases, surgery. Prostatitis is usually treated with a combination of antibiotics and supportive measures. Prostate cancer treatment depends on the stage and grade of the disease and may include active surveillance, surgery, radiation, or hormone therapy.
Dr Naudé has a particular interest in prostate cancer and is listed as a prostate cancer professional by the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa. He performs laparoscopic and robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy for appropriate candidates.
