Laparoscopic surgery to locate and reposition an undescended testis.
Book a ConsultationIf a testis has not descended fully into the scrotum, surgery may be needed to locate it and move it into the correct position. This is a condition that typically presents in childhood, though it can also be identified later.
A diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopy can be performed through one 1.5 cm incision for the laparoscope and two 0.5 cm incisions for the surgical instruments in the lower abdomen. The laparoscope allows the surgeon to identify the location of the testis and, where appropriate, reposition it into the scrotum.
In some cases, this procedure may be performed in two stages to achieve the most favourable outcome. Dr Naudé will explain the approach recommended for your specific situation.
